YELENA OOSTING
ABSTRACT PAINTINGS
Yelena was born in the Urals, USSR. At the age of 9 she was accepted into the Moscow School of Fine Arts, which marks the start of Yelena’s formal training in Classical Figurative arts.
During the Cold War Yelena’s family immigrated to the United States, where she continued her education in Arts and her pursuit of mastering painting, drawing, and later, illustration and graphic design.
In the 90’s Yelena relocated to Europe and continued her artistic development in classical Art.
The profound change in Yelena’s artistic journey took place with her move to the Netherlands. In Amsterdam she ventured into the realm of Abstract painting, which was “terrifying but exhilarating”.
Her current work presents a symbiosis of Western abstract expression supported by the classical Russian tradition. This fusion of artistic representations results in free-flowing yet multidimensional imagery. It is an expression of the intuitive subconscious that feels the harmony and energy present in the Universe.
In her latest work Yelena continuous to experiment with various materials which makes her creative process into an ongoing exploration full of new discoveries that never cease to surprise.
Yelena werd geboren in Rusland. Op 9-jarige leeftijd werd ze toegelaten tot de Moskouse School voor Schone Kunsten, wat het begin markeert van Yelena's formele opleiding in klassieke kunst.
Tijdens de Koude Oorlog emigreerde Yelena naar de Verenigde Staten, waar ze haar kunstopleiding voortzette en zich bezighield met schilderen, tekenen en later illustratie en grafisch ontwerp.
In de jaren 90 verhuisde Yelena naar Europa en zette haar artistieke ontwikkeling in de klassieke figuratieve kunst voort.
De ingrijpende verandering in Yelena's artistieke reis vond plaats met haar verhuizing naar Amsterdam. Daar waagde ze zich in het rijk van de abstracte schilderkunst, dat "angstaanjagend maar opwindend" was.
Haar huidige werk presenteert een symbiose van westerse abstracte expressie ondersteund door de klassieke Russische traditie. Deze samensmelting resulteert in vrij vloeiende maar toch multidimensionale beelden. Het is een uitdrukking van het intuïtieve onderbewustzijn dat de harmonie en energie in het universum voelt.
In haar nieuwste werk blijft Yelena experimenteren met verschillende materialen, wat haar creatieve proces tot een ontdekkingstocht maakt vol nieuwe ontdekkingen die nooit ophouden te verrassen.
